In a recent article about the capabilities and implications of AI, particularly large language models (LLMs), Casey Newton framed the discussion around two extremes: those who claim AI is “fake and sucks” and those who insist AI is “real and dangerous.” This framing, however, glosses over more nuanced viewpoints about what LLMs can and cannot do, and how they might fit into our technological ecosystem.
